Description
Spironef Technologies is a company with an idea for a novel lightweight building, the ?Panoramic?, with a roof formed of inflatable tubes. This roof can be opened and closed by inflating or deflating the tubes using a fan system. Spironef wish to market this building in Europe and the USA as either a temporary building for use as a marquee or as a permanent building to cover sports facilities etc.
Buro Happold Ltd. was commissioned to investigate and report on the Panoramic roof and frame. This included model generation of the complex tube shapes, loading analysis, capacity and stability checks.
Description of the environmental conditions
When cushions are fully inflated [i.e. roof closed] the structure offers shelter from the rain, wind and shading from the sun.
