Description
In summer 2018, our project "Oxigeno" in Costa Rica, San José was installed and successfully connected to the ventilation unit.
The ETFE cushion of roof with a diameter of 45m covers the central place of a spacious shopping area in the district of San Francisco de Heredia. This ETFE structure is currently the largest of its kind in the world and it combines a clear architectural language with detailed connections and a highly optimized security system.
The two-layer cushion construction with a total of 1.600m² is supported by a network of cables anchored in a continuous steel ring. In case of emergency, (loss of air pressure) security valves has been installed which ensure that any accumulated water is discharged immediately. This is important to prevent water sacks that can lead to deformation of the very thin membrane.
