Description
It was designed as a sun protection for the main viewing bench of a horse riding and excercise ring.
El baluarte (the bulwark) is a pure spanish horse breeder institution in the region, hence the form of a horseshoe in the connections at the front of the membrane.
Another key aspect in the design was the beautiful background which oversees mountains and volcanoes, which is why we wanted to blend the membrane with the scenery.
Description of the environmental conditions
Suchitepequez is one of the 22 departments of Guatemala. It is located in southwestern Guatemala on the Pacific coast and ranging up to the central highlands.
The climate of Suchitepequez is hot and tropical in the Pacific plains, gradually becoming more temperate as the elevation rises to the northeast.
the primary economic activity in this department is agriculture. One of the major crops is sugar cane, due to it´s form of operation, pollution due to burning of the fields is high during parts of the year.
