Description

Being guest at the parlament is the theme of the Bundestagsarena, which was opened on 7. Juni on the occasion of the FIFA World Cup 2006. This unique parlamentary project informs the visitor about the work of the parlament. The dome is based on the one of Reichstagsgebäude . The interior design too is inspired by the parlament. 550 seats are organized into the numer of the fractions and designed according the fraction colours. The Bundestagsarena has a diameter of 32m and is 21m high and is nearly as big as its archetype on the Reichstagsgebäude. Twenty polgonal girders consisting of seven system girder elements each form the dome. The system girders end in a specially developed connetion ring which carries the zenith covering. A joint between connection ring and zenith covering is used for the ventilation. The dome is covered with 1.500m² 1-layer ETFE-foil with a thickness of 0,2mm. The sections are made of 15 parts each. The altogether twenty sections are carried in kederprofiles. To minimze the heating-up of the dome by the sun insolation the foil was printed with reflecting spots. The grade of printing increases in four steps from 0 bis 70 %. After the FIFA World Cup the structure will be dismantled.
